Making a shaving bowl
in our new “What’s In The Making” I will share with you a brief description of my methods and techniques of how my shaving bowls are hand-made from start to finish in our workshop along with shaving brushes on how their cast and hand turned, sharing with you photos and videos, please enjoy!
The mould, 1st stage
Here I made a ply wooden box to house the glass bowl I bought from my local Sainsburys, a negative form or a reverse impression of an original glass bowl mounted on the ply board, 2 litre’s of Silicon Resin would be needed as you can see in the photo on the right
The Mix, stage 2
This is a flexible Silicon Resin that is great to work with, 2 kilos was needed just to make main bottom or the negative form, this will be a fairly large shaving bowl
